Mitosis occurs in somatic cells whereas meiosis occurs in reproductive cells.

In mitosis, the daughter cells have same number of chromosomes as parent cells whereas in meiosis, the daughter chromosomes have half the number of chromosomes as parent cells.

In mitosis, 2 daughter cells are formed from one parent cell whereas 4 daughter cells are formed in meiosis.
