Expert Answer
Let there are a number of point charges like q1, q2, q3, q4, q5 which are at a distance r1, r2, r3, r4, r5 respectively from point P as shown in figure.
Potential V1 at P due to point charge q1 is given by, V1 = ...............................(1)
Potential V2 at P due to point charge q2 is given by, V2 = .............................(2)
like this we can write respective potential for other charges.
By superposition principle, potential V at point for the given system of charges is given by,
V = V1+V2+V3+V4+V5 =
Though here we have considered only 5 charges, this procedure can be extended to any number of charges.
