The cell wall is present only in plant cells but not in animal cells because they provide rigidity and support to plants. The cell wall provides definite shape, strength, and protection against mechanical stress and physical shocks. It helps to control cell expansion due to the intake of water.
Apart from plants, cell wall is present in fungi, bacteria, algae, and some archaea.
