Are force and weight the same thing

Expert Answer
Weight is the force with which earth pulls the object toward itself whereas there are other ways by which the force can be applied on an object e.g physical contact(pushing/pulling), electrostatic force etc. Since weight is a force it's SI unit is Newton.
