p-n junction is the junction of p-type semiconductor and n-type semiconductor. 
 
p-n junction is the basic unit of semiconductor devices like diodes , transitors and integrated circuits.
 
Diode , which is a p-n junction semicondutor is used in power rectifier circuit in which alternating
electrical voltage input is converted to direct current to operate electrical and electronic devices.
 
p-n junction diodes are used to make photo-diode to detect light .
 
p-n junction diodes are are used to make light emitting diode (LED) to convert electrical power to light.
 
p-n junction diodes are used to make solar cells to convert light into electrical power .
