Explanation :-

Angular momentum of Planet revolving around the sun in highly elliptical orbit is conserved .

If angular momentum is not conserved , then angular acceleration will be non zero and

period of revolution is not a constant for the planet .

Net torque acting on the planet that revolving around sun is zero becuase

the gravitaional force of attraction that causes the palnet to revolve arounfd the sun is acting in the direction

parallel to line joining the planet and sun . Hence net torque is zero .

If net torque is zero , then angular momentum is constant and it is conserved.
