Electric potential at a point P due to a charge q is directly proportional to charge and inversely proportional to the distance between point P and charge.
In the case of charged ring all charges are at equal distance from center .
Half the ring has psitive charge and other half has negative charge .
Hence if we add the electric potential due to all charges in the ring , we get zero.
Electric potential at centre of the ring is zero , if half the ring has positive charge and other half has negative charge.
