E.i) State and explain Le Chatelier’s principle. On the basis of this principle discuss the conditions for obtaining the maximum yield of SO3 in the following reaction. 2SO2(g)+ O2(g)⇌2SO3(g); ∆𝐻= - 42k.cal.(ii) Calculate the pH value of 0.01M CH3 COOH if it is 5% dissociated.

Que: Explain anti bonding and bonding hybridised orbitals.
Ans: When two atomic orbitals overlap, they interact to form two molecular orbiotals. One is bonding molecular orbital
and other is antibonding molecular orbital.
The bonding molecular orbital has lower enrgy and hence the greater stability than corresponding antibonding molecular orbital.
Que: CaC2 on hydrolysis gives ethyne while Al4C3 on hydrolysis gives methane.
Reaction:
CaC2 + H2O → Ca(OH)2 + C2H2
Al4C3 + 6H2O → 2Al2O3 + 3CH4
