A ball thrown up vertically returns to the earth after 12 seconds. Find the velocity with which it was thrown up.

If the ball returns in 12 s , then time to reach maximum height from ground will be 6 s .
Let us use the equation of motion " v = u - ( g t ) " , where v =0 is final velocity because at maximum height velocity is zero ,
u is initial velocity , g is acceleration due to gravity and t is time taken to reach maximum height.
hence , we get , u = ( g t ) = 9.8 × 6 = 58.8 m/s
The ball is thrown from ground vertically upwards with initial velocity u = 58.8 m/s
