why  emergent ray is parallel to incident ray in rectangular glass slab but not in prism?

This is because in the case of the glass slab the surfaces (on which light is incident and emerging) are opposite and parallel to each other. Whereas, in the case of a glass prism the surfaces are inclined to each other at some angle.
