CBSE Class 10 Answered

Why does the light passes undeviated through optical centre?
Asked by jgprmr | 17 Jun, 2017, 05:13: PM
answered-by-expert Expert Answer
Any light ray incident on the optical centre can be viewed as incident on the centre of a circle of which the lens is a part. Hence, we can say that this light ray is incident normally on the lens. Now, we know that any normal incidence goes undeviated through the medium. Hence, a light ray incident on optical centre passes undeviated through it after refraction.
