What is real and virtual image?

Expert Answer
Real image is inverted and can be captured on screen.
Virtual image is erect, can be seen with eye but can not be captured on screen.
Image formed by concave mirror when the object is placed beyond focal length is real image.
Image formed by concave mirror when the object is placed between focal point and pole of the mirror is virtual image.
Image formed by convex lens when the object is placed beyond focal length is real image.
Image formed by convex lens when the object is placed between focal point and optical centre of the lens is virtual image.
