we know, by coulombs law, electrostatic force between charges is proportional to product of charges.
In the question, distance is kept constant as L for all charge configuration.
Hence we can consider the force between charges is some constant multiple of product of charges
hence we have, ( q1 + q2 )×q3 = 2 ...................(1)
( q2 + q3 )×q1 = -4 ...................(2)
( q3 + q1 )×q2 = -18 ...................(3)
eqn.(1) is rewritten as , q1 q3 + q2 q3 = 2 ........................(4)
eqn.(4) is rewritten as, q1 q3 + q2 q1 = -4 ........................(5)
eqn(4) - eqn(5) gives, q2 q3 - q2 q1 = 6 .........................(6),
eqn.(3) is written as, q2q3 + q2q1 = -18 .......................(7)
By solving eqn.(6) and (7), we get q2 q3 = -6 and q2q1 = -12 .
By dividing these products of charges, we get q1 / q3 = 2 .........................(8)
By substituting ( q2 q3 ) in eqn.(4), we get q1 q3 = 8 .....................(9)
from eqn.(8) and eqn.(9) , we get q1 = 4 and q3 = 2 , if q2 q3 = -6 , then q2 = -3
hence q1 : q2 : q3 = 4 : -3 : 2
