Expert Answer
Induced emf due to changing magnetic field is given as,
E (2πR) = -AdB/dt = -πR2dB/dt
E = -RdB/2dt
Force on electron is
F = -Ee
F = -(eR)dB/2dt
Acceleration,
a = eRdB/2mdt
As the magnetic field increases at a constant rate and is directed into the paper, the current is induced
in the cylindrical surface in an anticlockwise direction. Hence, the force will be towards the left on the electron.
Thus, the correct option is option (a).
