Let us consider , in the quadrilateral ABCD shown in figure, begin mathsize 12px style angle end styleA and begin mathsize 12px style angle end styleB are supllementary, i.e. begin mathsize 12px style angle end styleA + begin mathsize 12px style angle end styleB = 180°.
 
begin mathsize 12px style angle end styleA and begin mathsize 12px style angle end styleB are interior angles when line segment AB intercepting two line segments AD and BC.
Since sum of interior angles is 180°, side BC is parallel to side AD. Hence quadrilateral ABCD is a trapezeium.
 
Hence it is proved that in a quadrilateral, two adjacent angles are supplementary, then this quadrilateral is trapezeium.
