Expert Answer
Let x liters be the consumption of petrol before budget at total cost Rs. y.
Hence before budget, cost of 1 liter petrol = Rs. y / x
cost of 1 liter petrol after budget = Rs. 1.1 y / x
hence quantity of petrol can be obtained for the initial amount Rs. y = y / (1.1y/x) = x / 1.1 = 10x / 11 liter
reduction in quantity of petrol , x - ( 10x/11 ) = x / 11
required percentage of reduction in quantity of petrol after budget = [ (x/11) / x ] 100 = 100 /11 ≈ 9.1%
