By conservation of mass , volumetric flow rate is constant at all points of pipe.
if flow speed is u = 3m/s across cross section of d = 3 cm diameter , then water flow rate Q is
Q = u × (π/4) d2 = 3 × π × 3 × 3 × 10-4 m3/s = 2.120 × 10-3 m3 / s
If speed of water through construction is 12 m/ s , then area of construction = flowrate / speed
area of construction = 2.120 × 10-3 /12 m2 = 1.767 × 10-4 m2
Area = ( π/4 ) d2 = 1.767 × 10-4 m2
