electrons and protons are fundamental charges. Proton is ionised hydrogen nucleus.
Electrons are negatively charged particles surrounding the nucleus of every element.
In electrostatics, we encounter positive charges when an elements of material looses electron.
This may happen when electrons are removed by friction.
Similarly removed electrons are attached to other neutral elements to give negative charge,
There is no doubt, charges are matter and they have mass.
