In parallelogram ABCD,AB||CD and area parallelogram is 280 sq.cm point P and Q divide AB and DC respectively in the ratio of 2:3 . find the area of parallelogram APQD.

Solution: Area of ||gm ABCD = base X height = AB X h = 280 sq.cm
Given, AP : PB = 2 : 3
So, AP = {2/(2+3)} AB = (2/5)AB
So, area of ||gm APQD = base X height = AP X h = (2/5)AB X h
                                  = (2/5)X 280 = 112 sq.cm
