  • Transpiration is the process by which plants lose water in the form of water vapour from the aerial parts of the plant.
  • Transpiration depends on the normal opening and closing of stomata which are tiny pores present on the surface of leaves.
  • Thus, during the process of transpiration the excess water in plant is lost through these pores which are clearly visible on a leafy twig of the plant.
  • Therefore while performing the said experiment a leafy shoot of plant is taken so to obtain an accurate result.
  • Taking the flower with stalk dipped in water will not suffice for the experiment.
