Dialysis tubing is selectively permeable to common organic molecules based on size. Molecules (like glucose and water) and ions (like sodium) pass through readily, while large molecules (like sucrose) do not. The process of osmosis can be stydied by taking glucose, iodine and starch molecule for experiment.

The results show that glucose and iodine (potassium iodide) has smaller molecular size than starch. Because starch had larger molecular size, the dialysis tubing was not permeable to it (it didn’t allow it to readily pass through the pores of its membrane).

Please note that the confirmation of the molecules passing through the dialysis tubing was due to the observation conducted for iodine test (blue black colour into the bag), starch (yellow amber color-in the sloution) and glucose (Benedict test-into the bag)
