how can we separate a mixture of sugar and salt?

Answer:

The sugar will dissolve in an organic solvent like alcohol. Salt doesn't dissolve in alcohol. So if you add pure grain alcohol to the mixture, filter out the salt through a paper coffee filter, & then boil off the alcohol, you will then have the sugar left in the pan
