Let two consecutive enen numbers are n and n+2.
 
begin mathsize 12px style 4 over 9 open parentheses n plus 2 close parentheses space equals space n over 2
space open parentheses n plus 2 close parentheses space equals 9 over 8 n space
9 over 8 n space minus n space equals 2 space
space n space equals space 16 end style
 
Hence numbers are 16 and 18
