Distinguish between linear acceleration and centripetal acceleration.

(i) Linear acceleration is defined as the rate of change of linear velocity whereas centripetal acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity in circular motion.
(ii) Linear acceleration acts in the direction of motion of the body while centripetal acceleration acts towards the centre of the circular path along its radius.
