Mass transfer coefficient k is defined as
 
Mass transfer coefficient k = ( average flux over surface )/ ( driving force )
 
average flux = mass transferred per unit area
 
Driving force can be difference in partial pressure or difference in concentration .
 
Hence the unit for mass transfwer coefficient is M L-2 θ-1
 
( θ is for driving force )
