A wire of resistance R is cut into seven equal pieces.These seven pieces of wire are than connected in parallel.Find the resultant resistance of this combination.If these pieces are connected in series find resultant resistance, and than the ratio of  both resultants.

When n equal resistances of value R are connected parallel, equivalent resistance is R/n.
 
When a given wire of resistance R is cut into 7 pieces, resistance of each pice is R/7
 
When 7 equal resistances of value R/7 is connected in parallel, then equivalent resistance will be R/49.
 
Naturally if all equal resistances of value R/7 is connected in series, its equivalent resistance is R.
 
Hence ratio of resistance of series resistors to parallele resistors is begin mathsize 12px style fraction numerator R over denominator begin display style bevelled R over 49 end style end fraction space equals space 49 end style
