A wire of resistance R is cut into 4 equal parts. Then they are connected in parallel. Compare the new resistance to the initial resistance R.

If a wire of resistance R ohm is cut into 4 equal parts, then each part has resistance R/4 ohm.
This is because resistance is proportional to length
 
If  n number of resistances of equal value r ohm are connected in parallel, then equivalent resitance
of this parallel combination is (r/n) ohm.
 
Hence equivalent resistance of parallel combination of 4 equal resiatnces of value (R/4) ohm is  (R/16) ohm.

Plssss answer..... Assertion: Magnetic field lines never intersect each other. Reason: If they intersect, then at the point of intersection, the compass needle would point towards two directions, which is not possible.
