Updated Syllabus for NEET-UG for the Academic Year 2023-24

According to the reports, 20.38 lakh students appeared in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) 2023. The syllabus for NEET-UG for 2023-24 has been updated under the National Medical Commission (NMC). The official notice released by NMC mentions that the Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), a self-operating body under NMC, has finalised the updated syllabus.

What to Expect from the Updated Syllabus?

NEET (UG) is the national pre-medical entrance test for all-India students who want to pursue MBBS (undergraduate medical), BDS (dental), and AYUSH. The entrance exam decides the fate of students after school as the NEET (UG) cut-off criteria are followed in every renowned government or private college in India to give admission to the freshers.

The revised session 2023-24 syllabus follows almost the same topic pattern as the NEET 2023. According to the reports, the updated syllabus has a few minor changes in the topic list that students need to keep an eye out for. The foundation for the three significant subjects should be clear to every aspirant as the NEET (UG) 2024 will test the overall abilities of students with up-to-date knowledge of class 11 and 12 science concepts.

Subjects to Prepare for NEET-UG 2024

NTA (National Testing Agency), responsible for conducting NEET exams, has recently announced that the NEET-UG 2024 will be conducted on May 5, 2024 (which may or may not be subject to change). It is a highly competitive entrance exam, and the number of aspirants sitting in the NEET 2023 hit the roof with the highest number of candidates ever appearing in the history of this exam.

The eligible students have to study three primary subjects for NEET and mark the new beginning of their career, which are:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology

The number of aspirants sitting in the NEET 2023 hit the roof with the highest number of candidates ever appearing in this entrance exam. As the competition is gradually increasing, the aspiring students preparing for the NEET in the academic session 2023-24 have to roll their sleeves and gear up the preparations for all three subjects equally.

The updated syllabus, in compliance with the UGMEB (under NMC), expects the eligible pre-med candidates to prepare the revised topics thoroughly to qualify for the cut-off criteria for NEET-UG 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET (UG)-2024

As the pre-medical entrance test syllabus is being updated for session 2024, the students must diligently prepare for the entrance exam. The eligible students should carefully look out for the exam forms and fill out the application forms on time. There is a specific set of criteria criteria that the students must meet to be eligible for NEET-UG 2024, which are as follows:

  • Minimum Age: The minimum age for aspiring students to appear in the entrance test is 17 years as of December 31 of the academic year 2024.
  • Mandatory Education: Students currently studying in 12 and those who have already passed the 12 grade are qualified to sit in the test. Some students strive for better colleges and retake the entrance test to improve their scores.
  • Marks Criteria: Students must strive to achieve at least 50% marks in physics, chemistry, and biology courses within the recognised government boards. For reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC-NCL), the students must achieve at least 40% marks to qualify for the exams.
  • Citizenship: The aspirant student appearing in NEET (UG) should be an Indian Citizen, non-resident Indian, OCI, Person of Indian origin, or a foreign national.
