The monsoon is one of the exciting times to plan your travel. The lush greenery, pleasant winds and beautiful landscapes add a lot more fun to our travel plans. All you need to do is choose an ideal travel destination and get started. So, let’s take a look at some of the top monsoon travel destinations in India.

Shillong, Meghalaya

Shillong is a land of natural beauty. Beautiful valleys and waterfalls make the monsoon in Shillong worthwhile. The rains in Shillong last longer than the rains in other parts of the country. Visit Shillong at least once to experience the monsoon in this area.

Darjeeling, West Bengal

Darjeeling is one of the famous monsoon destinations of the country. Also known as the ‘Queen of Hills’, Darjeeling looks beautiful during the monsoon. If you want to experience heavy rainfall, then you must visit Darjeeling.

Munnar, Kerala

Kerala is beautiful and you don’t need to wait for the monsoon to visit this place. However, the beauty of Kerala is at its peak during the monsoon, and you must experience it. Munnar is a perfect example of lush green beauty.

Lonavala, Maharashtra

Lonavala is a great monsoon destination for those who stay in Maharashtra. It’s an all-in-one package and qualifies for a travel destination. Most tourists who visit Lonavala are from Mumbai due to its proximity to the city. Lonavala looks lovely during the monsoon and receives a lot more rainfall than Mumbai. Apart from Lonavala, places such as Matheran, Mahabaleshwar and Malshej Ghat are the other options which you can consider during the monsoon.

Coorg, Karnataka

Coorg in Karnataka is yet another famous and beautiful place to visit during the monsoon. The beautiful hill station is known for its pleasant atmosphere, cuisines, waterfalls and coffee plants. Mullayanagiri, Ayyanakere, Bandipur National Park and Gokarna are other famous places in Karnataka which you must visit during the monsoon.

If there’s a place which completely transforms during the monsoon, then it’s definitely the Konkan region. When you visit Konkan during the monsoon, you’ll realise that the place isn’t just related to history and has more to it!

The Valley of Flowers, Uttrakhand

The Valley of Flowers National Park is a must-visit place during the monsoon. If you want to catch a glimpse of beautifully blossomed flowers, then you must go here. The Valley of Flowers remains open from April to October. The best time to visit the place is in July or soon after.

Visiting Goa during the monsoon can be a unique experience. You may not get to see the Sun or enjoy sunbathing, but you definitely see a different side of Goa during this time. You can also enjoy fishing on the pristine beaches. Also, the eccentric beauty of Dudhsagar falls (located on the border of Goa and Karnataka) will take you by surprise.
