Schools to Open Zone Wise With 30% Attendance from July 2020

The Central Government is planning on re-opening the CBSE schools gradually in green and orange zones. The plan is to open schools for the new session, i.e. July; and as per reports, initially schools will open only for higher classes while the primary section students will continue to be educated at home.

Schools in India are shut since March 16 because of the lockdown and the pressing issue since then has been the completion of course and opening of schools. The HRD ministry is drafting a detailed plan that will be revealed later this week and simultaneously shared with the regional ministers.

Teachers will be trained on following safety procedures and will be expected to follow the guidelines. However, even if the schools open they won’t be in complete in attendance, only 30% students will be allowed in each class. Additionally, as a part of the safety guidelines thermal scanners will be installed in schools, strict social distancing rules will be implemented followed by compulsory basic protection gears such as masks and gloves.

The state boards are also slowly considering this option but the final decision will be made only after assessing the COVID-19 situation. Even though schools are planning on reopening, this rule is not applicable for Red and containment zones.
