NEET Result 2023: Download the Result and Get Details on the Cut-off and Admission Process

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG results yesterday, 13th June 2023. The exam was conducted on 7th May 2023 in a total of 513 cities, which 20,38,596 candidates took. Students who appeared for NEET UG can now check their scorecards on the NEET website and Digilocker.

This year, NEET UG recorded the highest number of registrations and attendance in the last five years. Around 20.8 lakh students registered for the national-level exam, and 20.3 lakh students appeared for it. Out of the 20 lakh students, a total of 11,45,976 candidates qualified.

The official NEET answer key was released on 4th June, and it was released on 11th June for Manipur candidates. The final answer key is yet to be announced.

Key Highlights

  • A total of 11,45,976 candidates qualified, taking the pass percentage to 56.3%.
  • This year as well, 6,55,599 female candidates qualified, outshining boys, where the total number of those qualified was 4,90,374.
  •  Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of qualified candidates with 1.39 lakh, followed by Maharashtra with 1.31 lakh candidates, and Rajasthan secured the third position with over 1 lakh qualifying candidates.

How to Check NEET UG 2023 Result?

Students can check their scorecards on the official NEET website; the results are also posted on the DigiLocker app and website. To check the result on the main website, students must follow the steps below.

  • Visit the official NEET website and scroll down to find the ‘Candidate Activity’ section.
  • Click on one of the three given links for the ‘NEET (UG) 2023 Score Card’.
  • On the page, enter your application number and date of birth.
  • Enter the security pin and click on ‘Submit’.
  • Your result should now be visible on the screen.
  • Go through the scores and download the page as a pdf for future reference. You can also take a printout for a hard copy of the scorecard.

NEET (UG) 2023: Category-Wise Cut-off Scores & Percentile

NTA has released the 2023 cut-off marks for qualifying students. They are given below.

  • General: 720 -137
  • SC/ST/OBC: 136-107

There is a slight increase in the cut-off scores when compared to last year. In 2022, the cut-off score for the general category was 715-117; for the reserved category, i.e. SC, ST and OBC, it was 116-93.

The qualifying percentile for all categories is:

  • General: 50th percentile
  • Reserved: 40th percentile
  • General - PH: 45th percentile
  • Reserved - PH: 40th percentile

NEET (UG) 2023 Counselling 

Qualified candidates will be eligible for the counselling process, which will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The counselling is divided into 15% All-India Quota seats and 85% state-level seats, which respective state authorities will conduct.

The counselling will occur in 4 rounds - Round 1, 2, Mop-up Round and Stray Vacancy Round. The dates for the counselling process have not been announced yet. Candidates are suggested to keep an eye on the official MCC website for the latest announcements.

Counselling Process

Here is an overview of the counselling process.

  • Candidates first register themselves for NEET UG Counselling on the MCC website. It is a crucial step to be eligible for counselling.     
  • Once the registration is complete, students will fill up their preferred course and institution and lock in their choices.
  • Students submit their documents, and the verification process takes place.
  • The NEET 2023 seat allotment process starts.
  • The seat allotment results are published on the website.
  • Candidates report to their allotted college to confirm their admission. Round 1 ends.

After round 1 is concluded, the same steps are followed for round 2, the mop-up round and the final stray vacancy round. The final decision for admission ultimately rests with the medical institute based on the student’s preferences, rank, seat matrix, and reservation.
