CUET (UG) 2023 Results Declared: Over 22,000 Students Score 100 Percentile!

National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the CUET (UG) 2023 results on 15th July 2023. Over 22,000 students recorded a remarkable 100 percentile among the 11.11 lakh candidates that appeared for the exam. Students can now check their scorecards on the official CUET and NTA websites.

Almost 15 lakh students registered for the second edition of the CUET undergraduate examinations. The papers were conducted from 21st May to 5th July in three shifts and a total of nine phases. NTA announced the provisional answer key on 29th June; the final answer key was released on 12th July.

Since results have been declared, institutions like Delhi University have already started their registration process. The merit list for qualifying candidates will be released by each college soon.

• A total of 14,99,796 candidates registered for the second edition of the CUET UG exam.
• Almost 11.17 lakh students appeared, out of which 6,02,028 male candidates, 5,13,978 female and 16 transgender candidates sat for the exam.
• Out of the 22,836 students that scored 100 percentile, over 60% were women.
• The highest 100 percentile scores were recorded in English, followed by Biology and Economics.
• A total of 249 universities are participating in CUET 2023 for UG.
• No centralised cut-off will be announced this year by NTA. Universities will release their individual cut-off lists.

How to Download CUET (UG) Scorecard?

Students can visit any of the two official websites to check their scorecards.

• Click on the CUET UG 2023 results link available on the homepage.
• Enter the required login details, including your date of birth and registration number.
• The scorecard should now be visible on your screen.
• Check the scores for each subject, download a pdf and take a printout of the scorecard for future reference.

Understanding Normalised Scores in CUET

Unlike the raw scores mentioned in other examinations, the CUET scorecard mentions the percentile achieved by the student and the ‘normalised score’. Normalised scores are awarded by evaluating raw scores using the equi-percentile method.

In the equi-percentile method, candidates' percentiles are calculated based on their raw marks compared to others in the same session for each subject across multiple days. These percentiles are then equated and converted to normalised marks.

These normalised scores are used just like the raw scores. For CUET-related admissions, these normalised marks are taken into account by each university.

University Admissions and Cut-Off

CUET does not release any centralised cut-off scores after announcing the results. NTA sends the normalised scores for each candidate to the respective universities. Upon evaluating these scores, each university releases its individual merit list based on which students get admission into their institute of choice.

The student will secure seats depending on their CUET UG scores for 2023 and the cut-off marks decided by the university. Qualification also depends on the eligibility criteria set by the institute.

Universities may announce several cut-off lists based on their intake capacity. It is suggested that students check the revised cut-off lists if they fail to secure admission the first time.

Ans: The full marks for CUET is 800. If you can score anything above 650, then it is considered good. Although it is best to keep in mind that ‘good scores’ mainly depend on the cut-off list of the institute you intend to study at.

Ans: As per NTA, there is no limit on the number of times a student can appear for CUET. You just need to qualify for the exam according to the eligibility criteria mentioned by NTA in the information brochure released prior to the exam.

Ans: Generally, institutions do not consider class 12 marks for admission. CUET scores are the sole deciding factor for eligibility, but class 12 marks may be used as a tiebreaker in rare cases.
