CBSE Board to Introduce Two Levels of Maths Exam for Class 10

Maths is an interesting subject. Many students find Maths intriguing, while others think of it as a nightmare. How do you feel about Maths? Don’t think you can tackle it? Here’s how this new notification from CBSE can make life easier for you. Read on to know more.

The Crux of the Story

Just as CBSE allow students an element of choice in the subjects they want to study, it will now allow CBSE Class10 students to choose one of the two levels of Maths exam, to be introduced from 2020 onwards.

The Two Level of Maths Exam for Class 10

The level of CBSE Class 10 Maths exam conducted at present will continue to exist as Mathematics-Standard Level. Another and a comparatively easier level of Maths exam will be introduced as Mathematics- Basic Level. CBSE Class 10 students will be avail this choice at the time of the Board exam only. No such choice will be available during internal assessments conducted by respective schools.

As you may have guessed, the Standard Level will be harder to crack and is meant for students who wish to study Maths in higher classes. Students who wish to discontinue Maths after Class 10, and would be happy to solve an easier paper during Boards should opt for the Basic Level.

What if a student fails at any level of Mathematics? To understand the norms of CBSE in this respect, refer to the table given below:
