Admissions to Professional Courses to be Based on Percentiles

Admissions to Professional Courses to be Based on Percentiles

By Admin 23rd Apr, 2014 07:07 pm

The third week of May will be a crucial time for students because the HSC results will be declared. Soon after, the admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses will begin.

The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has decided to consider the percentile of students in the HSC examination and Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2014.

A source from ACPC said, "The decision to consider the percentiles was taken after a hue and cry was raised over the normalisation system adopted last year. Students had approached the High Court, which had then struck down the rule to normalise marks."

The merit list will be prepared with a 60% weightage given to the percentile in the HSC examination and 40% to the percentile in JEE.
