Acids are corrosive in nature which means they damage the skin. So, HCl is a strong acid and due to its corrosive nature, it damages skin tissues and causes burning of the skin. Biochemically, acids produce hydronium ions which react with fats and lipids of the skin layer in a destructive manner and cause burning.
