why is the direction of electric field of electric dipole is from positive charge to negative

Expert Answer
The line of force due to single positive charge are directed radially outwards. On the contrary, lines of force due to single negative charge are directed radially inwards.
Given figure shows lines of force due to a pair of equal and opposite charges, (q ,-q), forming an electric dipole. They show clearly the mutual attraction between the opposite charges.
