Why is that we cannot drink the distilled water that we get as the product of a chemical reaction?

The ideal water for the human body should be slightly alkaline and this requires the presence of minerals like calcium and magnesium.
Since distilled water is has had all of its minerals and trace elements removed by distillation it is unsafe for drinking
