Human body is a good conductor of electricity as it has loads of ionic salts in it. So, when we touch a charged electrical appliance, the current flowd through us and then through the flooring of the house, which always has some metal beams in it, down into the earth. This is why it is advised to wear some insulator like rubber slippers before touching any charged electric appliance as excess flow of current through human body can result in death.
