CBSE Class 12-science Answered
What is the difference between Photo diode and Solar Cell?
Asked by vivek8312 | 15 Apr, 2012, 16:57: PM
Expert Answer
The photodiode is like a switch: light it up and electricity can flow through it. But that electricity is supplied externally.
A solar cell, using essentially the same photo-electric principle, is intended to generate electricity.
So, one is used as a sensor. The other as an energy producer. Different application.
