Expert Answer:

Land tenure system refers to rules related to the ownership of the land and revenues that a farmer has to pay to the state. Land tenure systems devised by the governement may be of problem to the farmers if land revenues are high and governemnt does not take measures for land irrigation. In colonial India, the British were not concerned with improvement of land. They were only interested in collecting high revenues. Thus, most of the land tenure system devised by them were opressive and not favourable for the peasants.
