It is necessary to minimise waste generation because accumulation or inappropriate waste disposal results in harmful effects on the environment as well as plants, animals and human beings.
Accumulation of wastes causes pollution. The pollutant can contaminate the ecosystem, which will make these unfit for living.
The health of the living organisms is affected due to contamination since these pollutants can become part of the food chain.
The biodegradable waste heaps become the breeding ground for the mosquitoes and other germs that are transferred to the organisms. These germs cause diseases like diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid.
Hence, the management of the waste is crucial for the sustenance and protection of the ecosystem.
