Expert Answer
- It is necessary to minimise waste generation because accumulation or inappropriate waste disposal results in harmful effects on the environment as well as plants, animals and human beings.
- Accumulation of wastes causes pollution. The pollutant can contaminate the ecosystem, which will make these unfit for living.
- The health of the living organisms is affected due to contamination since these pollutants can become part of the food chain.
- The biodegradable waste heaps become the breeding ground for the mosquitoes and other germs that are transferred to the organisms. These germs cause diseases like diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid.
- Hence, the management of the waste is crucial for the sustenance and protection of the ecosystem.
