The mass per unit volume of a substance is called density. 
 
Thus, 
rho equals m over V space rho space minus d e n s i t y m space minus space m a s s V space minus space v o l u m e space
 
Density is the comparison of an amount of matter an object has to its volume. 
 
If the object has more amount of matter in a certain volume then the object is of high density. 
However, if the object with less matter in same amount of volume then the object is of low density. 
 
The SI unit of density is kg/m3.
