Acceleration is the measure of how fast is the velocity changes in the motion. For example, while comparing two cars, if one of them takes 5 sec to reach 60 km/hr from rest, and other takes 10 sec, then the first car has large acceleration compared to the other.

Acceleration = change in velocity/time.
