What are sensory neurons?

Expert Answer:

A nerve cell that conducts an impulse from a receptor organ to the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) is known as sensory neuron.

Unlike neurons of the central nervous system, whose inputs come from other neurons, sensory neurons are activated by physical modalities such as light, sound, temperature, chemical stimulation, etc.
