An amphoteric oxide is an oxide that can act as either an acid or base in a reaction. These are the oxides of weakly electropositive metals. These oxides react as basic oxides with acids and as acidic oxides with bases.
Ex: Aluminium oxide reacts with acids
Aluminium oxide reacts with bases
