Since the stone is at rest, the external force is zero and momentum is conserved.
ΔP = 0
m2v2 - m1v1 = 0
The momentum of the first piece = m1v1 = (2)(10) = 20 kgm/s in the east direction.
The momentum of the first pice = m2v2 = 20m2 kgm/s in the west direction.
m1v1 = m2v2
m2 = 20/20 = 1 kg.
The velocity of second piece is in the west direction and mass of it is 1 kg.
