To find the pitch of B-dna double helix, why do we multiply axial rise per base pair (0.34nm) by 10 bp in one helical turn. Because the there will be 9 spaces between 10 base pairs!

Each turn of the B-DNA helix is called the pitch, and it is about 34 Angstrom or 3.4 nm in length and approximately has 10 base pairs.
The double helix DNA turns after every 10 base pairs at a distance of 3.4 nm. This distance is called pitch. The distance between two base pairs is 0.34 nm.
