Three-fourth of land is covered with water and yet there is water scarcity. It is because 97% of total water available on the earth is saline water present in ocean and seas and is unfit for human consumption. Out of remaining 3% most of freshwater reserve is inaccessible to humans  as it is stored in polar ice caps or stored too far underneath the earth’s surface. Less than 1% of water is available to humans as freshwater. Water availibility is irregular at various places of the earth. Most of this freshwater has become polluted.
