The sum of the digit of a 2-digit number is 8.the number obtained by interchanging the digit exceeds the given number by 18.find the given number.

Expert Answer
Let 10th place digit x and unit place digit is (8-x). Hence the number is 10x+(8-x) = 9x+8
if digits are interchanged , then the changed number is 10(8-x)+x = 80-9x
the given information is, 80-9x = (9x+8)+18 or 18x = 54 or x = 3.
hence the number = 9x+8 = 35
