Let the fraction be x / y . It is a proper fraction, hence y > x .
sum of denominator and numerator is 4 times the numerator : x + y = 4x or y = 3x .............................(1)
difference of numerator and denominator exceeds half of denominator by 3 : y - x = (y/2) + 3 .....................(2)
If we substitute y = 3x in eqn.(2), we get, 3x - x = (3/2)x +3 or x/2 = 3 or x = 6 , hence y = 18
hence fraction is 6/18
